With a family of 5 we don’t make it to the theater often so we like to treat our kids to special at-home family movie nights!  Big Hero 6 came out February 24, 2015 on DVD and Blu-Ray, so I stopped by my local Target to pick up the DVD and supplies to make a fun treat. My kids are so excited to see the movie and I am too–I’m a big Disney movie fan!

Big Hero 6 Baymax Popcorn

Big Hero 6 Baymax Popcorn

  • 10 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup red chocolate candy melts
  • ½ cup cherry chip cake mix
  • ⅓ cup sprinkles
  • ½ cup white Jordan Almonds
  • ¼ vegetable oil
  • Black edible food writer pen
  • Red gel food coloring

  1. Pop popcorn.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, heat candy melts. Stir every 30 seconds until melted. It will be thick
  3. Stir in vegetable oil, cake mix and red gel food coloring to desired color. It will now be much thinner.
  4. Pour melted mixture over pre-popped popcorn, mix thoroughly until evenly dispersed. Allow to dry for 5 minutes.
  5. Add ½ of the sprinkles.
  6. Allow popcorn to set for additional 15 minutes.
  7. While drying, draw on your Baymax faces using the edible food writer pen onto your Jordan Almonds; allow to dry before handling.
  8. Add Baymax Jordan Almonds and remaining sprinkles. Serve and enjoy!

The popcorn was a hit. My oldest daughter is allergic to nuts, so for her batch I made the Baymax faces with white marshmallows instead! This fun treat is perfect for family movie night or a Big Hero 6 birthday party!
