Hi, it’s Christine again and I’m so excited to share this adorable seed planting play date that I recently hosted because it was the perfect way to spend a pretty spring afternoon. Speaking of spring, woo hoo!!!!! It’s here!!!!

I got inspired to plan this play date one day when I was browsing around the craft store, one of my favorite pastimes that Ryan Gosling totally gets but my sweet hubby does not. I saw a watering can there that I loved and it didn’t contain a stitch of pink, happy day! It’s not that I don’t like pink it’s just that my daughter insists that all of her parties are VERY pink so I get a little tired of it at times. I thought the blues and greens on the watering can would make for a great spring planting setup. Carli at Dimple Prints designed an adorable ‘Spring has Sprung’ banner and matching paper based off of the design of the watering can. I mean, it matched the can perfectly! Can you believe it? That is talent for sure. She also added a frame-able quote I found on Pinterest by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The Earth laughs in flowers.” Don’t you love that?

I picked up flower pots and spray painted them along with mini watering cans that someone had given me a while back. I found lots of seeds and foam stickers for decorating pots at the dollar store. I set up our old coffee table in the backyard; it’s the perfect kid-sized table and I use it for every party/play date at our house. I had a vinyl table cloth already which was perfect since it just wipes clean, hopefully I’ll get around to doing that one day soon. I hot glued some daisies to the front to add an extra springy feel. On the front door I hung a wreath that I made which was inspired by this awesome one from Abbey at The Cards We Drew. It was fun to make, super easy, and it’s adorable!

The kids worked so hard decorating their pots, planting their seeds, and watering them that I thought it was only fair to give them a sweet treat. I painted the outside of plastic cups so they looked like flower pots then filled them with chocolate pudding and crushed Oreos topped off with a gummy worm and flower toothpick. It was too funny hearing my 2-year-old exclaim, “I wuv eating dirt!”

This was such a fun way to spend time outside with my kids and their friends and now they eagerly wake up each morning wanting to water their plants and check to see if they’ve grown, which they haven’t. So fingers crossed we have some growth soon! I’m sure the cantaloupe seeds my son planted will produce a bountiful crop. Happy spring everyone!
