Surfer and Shark Party

Hi it’s Megan from Coffee Cups and Crayons with a super cute summer birthday idea–a surfer and shark pool party! When my soon-to-be 5 year old requested a pool party to celebrate his birthday I asked Carli to some up with some surfer and shark party printables and she totally outdid herself! This has to be one of my very favorite DimplePrints party themes!

food tableThe shark bites on the banner are my favorite part! We kept things super simple since it was the middle of the afternoon and just served pizza, fruit, and goldfish. Which turned out to be a good thing since it rained off and on during the party (and why there are no photos of the finished table)!shark foodThe watermelon shark was easy to make! We used a tutorial we found on Sun Scholars. It was a huge hit with the kids!

shark activitiesThe party activities were simple and easy! I ordered a bunch of shark ride on pool toys and bought blue and green pool noodles and diving toys from the dollar store to give the kids something to play with in the pool. Then I hid shark teeth in the sandbox and put mini shark toys in the water table. We also made sponge bombs from Inner Child Fun. Everything was already set out when the guests arrived so the only thing to do was have fun!

cake collageThe cake table got a little wet but we were able to save the two best parts–the shark cupcakes and cookies! The kids thought the shark fins sticking up out of the cupcakes were so cool. Spun Sugar Bake Shop made the cookies to coordinate with the printables and they looked amazing!

The surfer and shark party was a huge success–even with the rain! It’s the perfect theme for a summer birthday! For more boys birthday party ideas check out my pirate birthday party and my Batman birthday party.

My name is Carli, owner, designer & creative mind behind DimplePrints. I am married to my high school sweetheart & we have 3 wonderful kids. In the beginning I simply started by wanting to share a piece of our lives with loved ones by sending cards & invitations for special occasions. With the support of family, friends & great customers, it has grown into Dimpleprints.

  1. What did you make the Shark Fins for the cupcakes out of? I’m doing a Shark Birthday for my son next weekend & can’t quite figure out what I’ll use for the fins. Thanks!
