This past weekend we hosted Lucy’s 4th Birthday at a local pumpkin patch; Thomasson Family Farm. I can’t believe my baby is already 4! She had her 2nd birthday at the same pumpkin patch and it was such a hit, she has requested another pumpkin patch party ever since. Being that we live in the Pacific Northwest, fall weather can be unpredictable. Even though the farm has several indoor activities, I wanted to keep with a theme that allowed additional games and fun in the party barn so I opted for a Fall Carnival. Lucy had lots of input and insisted the party be in her favorite colors-pink & purple (and of course orange for the pumpkins).
Once I finalized the invites, I headed over to Oriental Trading to order supplies for our games and decorations. They have a great Halloween selection.
We had a limited time for setup but I still wanted a treats table and to decorate the party barn space. I added a ticket backdrop, paper fans and decorations throughout the party area. I love how the ticket backdrop turned out. It was a really simple craft that had a big impact. To make, fold tickets over long piece of yarn and staple.
I opted for primarily store bought treats to keep things simple: Cupcakes, candy, popcorn & caramel corn. Adding in a few custom treats elevated the feel. Mini donuts and chocolate covered Oreos from Sparkling Sweets Boutique were the perfect addition.
I finished off the table with homemade pie pops and caramel apples.
No carnival is complete with out games and prizes. Each kid was outfitted with a goodie bag from Oriental Trading.
We needed to keep the games simple and preschool age friendly. We played Pumpkin Ring Toss, Duck Pond, Candy Corn Bowling, Spin-A-Prize Wheel, Pin Drop and Pumpkin Punch. The games were a hit, especially Pumpkin Punch and Spin-A-Prize Wheel. I found the spin wheel at Oriental Trading, originally it wasn’t the colors of the party but was nothing a bit of paint and glitter couldn’t fix!
After enjoying the games, prizes and treats, we headed out to explore the pumpkin patch.
Unfortunately the weather didn’t hold for us and a storm rolled in, but the kids didn’t seem to mind! The corn box was a group favorite.
Lucy’s custom birthday party shirt from Personality Ink perfectly coordinated.
The party was a success and Lucy is already requesting another pumpkin patch birthday party!
